A New Year Brings a Renewed Troupe!

Hello and Welcome!

Gosh, I hardly know where to start!  There is so much to tell you all about.  Let's start with the renovations.

Is it 100% completed...No! But it is so close, so very close to being finished.  The light at the end of proverbial tunnel is in view and shining bright. Here's a quick bullet list of the changes:
  • Complete renovation and upgrade of the classroom spaces into a fully functioning Black Box Theater. Complete with a new sound system, a new lighting grid that supports a 100% LED based lighting system, and of course, brand new LED lighting instruments.
  • Complete replacement of the rigging system above the stage.  The new electrics, borders, Cyclorama, and 6 utility battens have been given motorized winches that will allow them to be flown in and out at the push of a button
  • The new electrics and lighting equipment support up to 80% LED fixtures and 20% traditional fixtures.
  • New perimeter work lights that will be able to switch from work mode (white light) to show mode (blue light) for added safety while cast and crew are working on the stage.
  • A completely overhauled sound system with an awesome digital Sound Board, multiple wireless mic capability, and a new Assistive Listening system.
  • Completely re-worked control booths. The sound booth has been brought out into the house to facilitate a better work environment for sound technicians to hear what the audience hears. The lighting booth has been modified with a raised floor and equipped with a brand new Ion XE light board.  (We are the only ones to have that at the moment!)
  • We now have a long throw projection system that works with an integrated A/V system that allows the new wide-screen to be used in conjunction with Lobby monitors and a streaming video feed!
  • And Mirror Lights! We now have vanity mirror lights in both dressing rooms along with utility drawers for all our show needs!
Of course, the renovation is not the only thing that is new about LCHS Theatre.  We welcome Mr. Eric Oneacre to the LCHS Theatre family.  Mr. Oneacre comes to Langham Creek from a four-year stint at Cy-Fair High School.  He is actually tangential to the first group of students I ever worked with at the high school level, not a former student, but close enough!

There is a whole lot going on this year.  We have a jam-packed season for you. We will double our production output this season.  The list includes bring back the Fresh Faces student directs, another fabulous children's show...and let me tell you....it is MARVELous! We will be producing a Musical Review with LCHS Choir, LCHS Orchestra will be joining us for the January show, and two Black Box Theater shows, with the first tee-ing up in October and the second in April. And of course, I can't forget to mention the two competition pieces we will produce for Texas Thespians and UIL One-Act Play.

Ok...well this post has become wicked long, so I will end it here. We have an amazingly awesome season for you this year.  It is going to be a fantastic year.  TRUST ME!!
